Sports injuries · knee & shoulder
Our surgeons and physiotherapists work as one team, in one place, from the day you are injured to the day you are back competing. The plan is written together, the progress is reviewed together, and you deal with the same people throughout — which gives you the best chance of returning to the sport you love.
Have an MRI already? Send it to us and our surgeons will have a look.
Most acute injuries do not need surgery this week, and some need it urgently. The point of an early visit is to tell the two apart, settle the swelling, and stop you losing muscle you will need later.
Both centres see acute injuries the same day. Come in with as it is — we do not need an MRI first, and we would rather examine it before one is ordered.

Nearly all of this is done arthroscopically, as day surgery, through two or three small incisions. What differs between surgeons is not the camera — it is graft choice, tunnel position, and whether anyone repairs the meniscus rather than trimming it away.

Arthritic knees are a different problem with a different answer. If wear rather than injury is what brought you here, read knee replacement or partial knee replacement.
Shoulders are over-operated. A good number of the shoulders sent to us for surgery need a diagnosis, an injection and a properly supervised programme instead — and a good number that have been managed for months should have been fixed early. Both errors cost movement.

Roughly one in four athletes who go back to pivoting sport after an ACL reconstruction tear a ligament again — most of them because they went back early, or went back weaker on one side than the other. We measure both before we sign anything.

The same battery, on both sides, tested by the physiotherapist who has had you since week one. We put the numbers in writing and give them to your coach if you have one.

Cashless with every major insurer, and with the corporate health schemes we are empanelled with. Most arthroscopic surgery is day-case, which some policies treat differently — our team checks that before you commit, files your pre-authorisation, and gives you a written estimate.

Send us your MRI and reports. One of our sports surgeons will read the images himself and tell you whether surgery is the right answer, whether it can wait, and what rehabilitation alone would be likely to achieve.
